Alla Pergola il Musical Spring Awakening

1fotospring1The Teatro della Pergola, one of the temples of excellence prose, apre al musical con “Spring Awakening”, award-winning success adapted from Frank Wedekind, "Spring Awakening".

The work of Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater accounted for Broadway a true gender revolution, distorting the expressive codes and customs of the musical style traditional.

Amply rewarded by the public and by critics, Spring Awakening has literally dug edition 2007 Tony Awards, ottene the ben 11 nominations and winning 8 recognition of the most important, including best musical, Best Director, best book, and 1 Grammy Award for Best Score.

Comes from the controversial – As sometimes difficult in understanding, at least part of the public, especially more “senior”, play by Frank Wedekind, "Spring Awakening", published in 1891 and long censured for roughness and provocative themes, the work has as protagonists a group of teenagers in Germany nineteenth century dealing with the discovery of one's social identity, emotional and sexual.

These, despite themselves, will be in contact with the morality of society and the hypocrisy of adults.

The exhibition of Italian Spring Awakening, directed by Emanuele Gamba and the musical direction of Stefano Brondi, maintains a strict adherence to the booklet.

The challenge is precisely to tackle a musical atypical of its kind: Nudity, child abuse, masturbation, rape, suicide but also hymn to life, to joy, a new nature and lush, to hope.

The text is recited in Italian but English is maintained in the songs, so that nothing is lost of the extraordinary expressive power of music.

The only concession dell'allestimento Italian regards the setting: Germany of the century is replaced with Italy thirties, whose iconographic references are reflected in the set, in the costumes and hairstyles.

In the background, to remind the school environment in which young people move characters, a large blackboard, multipurpose, also depending on the needs scenografiche, on which the scripts are projected translations of the songs with incredible visual impact video.

On stage we have rarely seen companies that have an exceptional cast, as in this case, and with the vocal, especially choral, Exceptional, that allow the public to have fun, to enjoy a show of high artistic level, and leave happy and “electrified” Theater.

This company, almost entirely made up of young, offers us a rare example of how, if wisely directed, young people can get out, and give, the best of.

Even skeptics of the direction of La Pergola at the end, thanks to this company, I think you have changed their minds on the opportunity to host a musical.
