Cardinal Betori speaks in the City Council

Monday afternoon in the Salon de 'Two Hundred in Palazzo Vecchio, during the traditional weekly session of the City Council, Archbishop of Florence, Cardinal Giuseppe Betori, handed over to the Mayor Dario Nardella, to the Board, the councilors and the Presidents of District the message of Pope Francis for 48 th World Day of Peace.

"I thank Cardinal Betori for the meeting with the City Council – said Mayor Nardella – which coincides with the delivery to the city's traditional message of peace of Pope Francis, and the pastoral visit which has decided to open in the territory. In his speech Cardinal Betori stressed as “Church in the town community is a social subject, with their own vision of the person and of civil society that it believes could bring useful elements to building a more just society. At the source of the Church's social doctrine is the human person, whose concept, as is well known, if it already appears in Stoicism but receives its specific connotation only with Christianity, by virtue of theological reflection on the mystery of the Trinity and the Incarnation of the Son of God”.

On the sidelines of the Cardinal also reiterated that it is not opposed to a mosque in Florence.
