The Mask of Dante is now a book

Written by journalist Cristina Manetti, the volume - whose preface was prepared by the Regional Director Eugenio Giani, President of the Italian Dante Society - is on sale in the bookshop of the Museum.

The death mask of the Supreme Poet, protagonist in Dan Brown's best seller "Inferno", for years had been quietly preserved in a glass case in the library of Dante.

Now, however, is proudly displayed in the hall of the Museo Casa di Dante dedicated to exile.

Housed in one of the most impressive buildings in the city, in the heart of medieval Florence, The museum consists of three floors, along which you can enjoy and relive key moments in the life of the poet and Florence he lived.

Among the most famous undoubtedly Campaldino, which are preserved in a diorama of the battle and a collection of knives including the "Dagger of Dante".

It dates back to the thirteenth century and both dating to that place of discovery (the plain of Campaldino, note) might have belonged to the same Dante, who fought in that epic battle between a horse feditori.

Now the Museo Casa di Dante is in first person engaged in the celebration of 750 years after the birth of the great poet.
