Back Valdarno Jazz Winter Festival that celebrates 25 years

Back Valdarno Jazz Winter Festival, manifestation of the international jazz, now in its 25th edition, by the saxophonist Daniel Malvisi and bassist Gianmarco Scaglia, which will take place from 13 February to 7 March.

Among the guests at the Trio Bobo, formed by the rhythm section of Elio e le Storie Tese, ie Alessio Menconi on guitar, Faso on electric bass and Christian Meyer on drums (13.02, Le Fornaci, Terranuova Bracciolini, hours 21.30); the deep soul of the American singer Shayna Steele, new music star, already vocalist for Moby, Bette Midler, Rihanna, John Legend, who will perform with his quintet composed Vitek Kristian floor, Brian Cockerman bass, Ros Pederson on drums, Most on guitar and Jeremy (27.02, Le Fornaci, hours 21.30) and the trio of bassist Rosario Bonaccorso, Fabrizio Bosso on trumpet and Brazilian Roberto Taufic guitar, Traveling for the project (7.03, Theatre Bucci, San Giovanni Valdarno, hours 21.30).

Scheduled six concerts and a preview, the 7 and 8 February, in the municipalities of Valdarno Terranuova Bracciolini (Auditorium at The Kilns, Via Vittorio Veneto 19), Montevarchi (Knowledge factory La Ginestra, Via della Ginestra 21), San Giovanni Valdarno (Theatre Bucci, Italian course 3).

Valdarno Jazz Association in collaboration with Music Pool, FTS – Fondazione Toscana Entertainment, Valdarno Culture and is inserted in the circuit I-Jazz Network and sound.

Tra gli eventi il Trio Ellipsis, led by pianist Danilo Memoli, collaborator Dave Schnitter, John Moscow, Vincent Herring, Jesse Davis, Eddie Henderson and especially Steve Grossman, in whose quartet plays the nineties. Memoli will be accompanied by Stefano Senni on bass and Mauro Beggs on drums (15.02, Montevarchi, La Ginestra, hours 17.30).

Saturday 21 February, instead, always in Montevarchi, there will be a listening guide Evolution of Standards, a meeting with the musicologist and music critic Alceste Ayroldi (hours 21.15), to be followed by Sunday 22 February concert with Jazz Standards Quartet, formed by the historical group of Valdarno Jazz, Fabrizio Mocata floor, Daniele Malvisi sax, Gianmarco Scaglia on bass and drums Andrea Marcelli (the musician arrives in Italy after a tour in Canada and USA).

The intent is to explain how they are born and have become standards in the various historical moments of the evolution of jazz music, first verbally, and then in music. The event takes the cycle of listening guides proposed by the festival every year before the event, with informative attempt (hours 17.30).

The preview of the festival will be Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 February, Le Fornaci, with the Valdarno Jazz weekend, in collaboration with the magazine Jazz en. It will be a weekend of music, with concerts of new promises and some confirmations national.

Among these, the Mirko Pedrotti Quintet, led by young vibraphonist Mirko Pedrotti, Lorenzo Sighel the alto sax, Luca Olzer the Fender Rhodes electric piano, Michele Bazzanella electric bass, Matteo Giordani to the battery. The ensemble was awarded first place at the Barga Jazz Contest 2013, and proposes original compositions, of musical experimentation, on the trail of Dave Holland, Chris Potter, Avischai Cohen e Steve Coleman, squeezing the occhioal world of progressive rock (Saturday 7 hours 22.00).

Sunday 8, at 17.30, instead, will be scheduled on the project, inspired by the piano trio, Fifty-seven of Gianmarco Scaglia, Simone Graziano floor and John Paul Liguori batteria.Oltre to the original songs and Graziano Scaglia, will be proposed masterpieces recorded in 1957, important year in the history of jazz.

Event, in the first national, each song will be a springboard for improvisation, for a dialogue of interplay, which will be dealt with vigorously rhythmic.
