Resuming travel to discover the secrets of Teatro La Pergola

New appointments in 2014 visiting-show at the Teatro della Pergola "In his Movement is stopped", staged by 9 years and happily passed the milestone of 200 over 10,000 spectators and replicas.

The success of this particular trip inside the theater and the underlying citadel of La Pergola is in the fact that the great magic of a theater does not live only on the stage, but also, and sometimes, especially in what's around the show.

And, because the theater lives at all times especially in its spaces "secrets" and inaccessible to viewers: laboratories, near the stage machinery, in the basement and in stores.

Where they still resonate the voices of the many workers who have dedicated their lives to this burning passion and without ever appearing on posters, without a trace of himself in history books, unlike instead of what happens in the film world, where at least, in the credits, these people appear.

And in his 350 year history of the Pergola has "collected" the echo of many voices, of famous actors and dark porters, The inventory, directors, impresarios, divine, singers, machinists, orderlies, pimps, extras, noble, maintained, bourgeois, critical, harassing spectators.

The title, In his movenza is stopped, that echoes the motto of the Academics Properties founders of the theater, is a fascinating journey into the heart of the theatrical machine, in the company of "gentle shadows", or of those characters that during the three centuries of its history have made great and immortal Pergola.

L'impresario work, the inventor Meucci, soprano Barbieri Nini, the driver and the seamstress Canovetti Eleonora Duse tell their stories to the lucky visitors halfway between dream and reality.

The journey starts from the alley of the carriages, old entrance to the stage, along which there are niches that housed the shops of artisans who were of service to the teeming life of the theater, tailors, hairdressers, shoemakers that guaranteed commissioning and refurbishing point and the model of all necessary accessory to the show.

From here we come to the well and to wash where they washed and dyed fabrics, and between narrow passages and corridors here is the court where they were forged these very special hammers drivers, still in production until a few years ago.

The Saloncino, the Gold Room and the atrium of the columns are the prelude to the more exciting vision, what every artist went from Teatro della Pergola admires and faces the rising of the curtain: the stage that frames an audience unexpectedly smaller than the stage space.

Here is the first phone that acoustic Antonio Meucci, driver at Pergola, devised to protect the curtain painted by Gaspare Martellini in 1828, silently to bring the voice from the stage to Graticcia and balconies placed at a height between 14 e i 18 m.

The houses under the stage finally the museum section of the theater occupied largely by the spectacular mechanism for lifting the auditorium built by Caesar in Canovetti 1857 and, to name just another precious object on display, the bench built by Giuseppe Verdi in 1847 on occasion of the first and of Macbeth by Giuseppe Verdi that just the Pergola has had the honor of hosting.

A trip then, in a real "City Theatre", in which he lived, day and night, crossroads, meeting place, agora of Florence Grand Ducal. Palace of court festivities, great temple of melodrama, appointed place of a thousand tricks and magic, under the auspices of the Academy of benevolent Properties, the Pergola built and owned up to 1942.
